Why we built Captain's Deck

We've been using dual-pane file managers since the DOS days. Norton Commander, Midnight Commander, Total Commander - these tools shaped how we think about file management. When we switched to macOS, we found that existing alternatives were either too basic, too bloated, or missing that keyboard-first philosophy we loved.

So we built Captain's Deck - a file manager that combines the best of the orthodox file manager tradition with modern macOS design. Native Swift and AppKit for performance. Vim-style navigation for speed. A built-in terminal that actually syncs with your file browser. And yes, a Norton Commander theme for those nostalgic moments.
