Captain’s Deck is a small, native macOS app. Here’s what it needs:
- macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
- Apple Silicon (M1 / M2 / M3 / M4) or any Intel Mac from the last decade
- 50 MB of disk space
- An internet connection for license activation (one-time)
Download
- Visit captains-deck.com
- Click Download free trial
- The
CaptainsDeck.dmgfile lands in your Downloads folder
Install
- Open
CaptainsDeck.dmg - Drag Captain’s Deck to your Applications folder
- Eject the disk image
- Launch from Applications, Spotlight (Cmd+Space), or Raycast

Activate a license
If you’ve purchased Captain’s Deck:
- Open Captain’s Deck → License… from the menu bar
- Paste the license key from your purchase email
- Click Activate
Your license is tied to your machine. You can deactivate and move it to another Mac at any time — see FAQ.
Updating
To pull the latest version:
- Download the new DMG
- Quit Captain’s Deck if running
- Drag the new app to Applications, replacing the old one
Settings, bookmarks, saved connections, and license carry forward automatically.
Troubleshooting
“App is damaged”
Usually means the download was interrupted. Trash the app and download again from the official source.
“Cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified”
Right-click (or Control-click) the app and select Open, then click Open in the dialog.
App won’t launch
Confirm you’re running macOS 14 or later. Check → About This Mac.
